Whether it’s a specific goal you have for yourself or other problems in your life, starting therapy can be difficult and challenging. I work to create a warm and accepting environment where you can feel safe to address issues in your life. I work with individuals and couples on self esteem, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, addictions, grief, parenting, and life transitions. I believe it is important to understand what it is that brings you in to therapy and what you want to accomplish. Once we set goals, what we do will in a large part depend on the issues you bring in. I believe it is important to look at beliefs, thoughts and feelings that may be causing you discomfort. At times, it may be important to look back to your early family life to understand underlying conflicts and make the unconscious conscious. We will want to address how you are coping with issues and choices that you may have. With couples, often we look at the patterns and process of communication and the level of emotional reactions to one another. Other issues including differences in personalities, early family conditioning, problem solving capabilities and conflict resolution may be important to address. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. I have experience both in private practice and in an agency setting. Before private practice, I worked in an internship at Bill Wilson Center during which time I was a counselor at Santa Clara High School and also at the Bill Wilson Center clinic. I have a Masters of Arts degree from Santa Clara University in counseling psychology. I am a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. I am also an adjunct faculty member at Santa Clara University where I lead process groups for graduate students who are becoming therapists.

Alta Mira Counseling is not a sole proprietorship, a
partnership, a professional counseling corporation, or any other type of
business entity, but rather a group of licensed practitioners who have joined
together for advertising purposes only. Each of these practitioners operates
his or her own private practice and does not share revenue with the other
practitioners.
